Job Description:
A highly skilled Systems Engineer is needed in Columbus, Ohio to provide engineering support for the client’s distributed back-up environment. Tasks include configuring new server back-ups, completing restore requests for existing backups, troubleshooting issues in the environment, working with vendors on support tickets and completing internal work requests (ITTL). Within this role, the contractor will use Netbackup, Avamar, EDL, and VBR.
This individual should have at least eight years of technical software and hardware analysis, programming & installation experience. (Three years of Project Management experience is preferred.)

In this role, he or she will serve as an expert in hardware/software systems engineering and will undertake the most complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge. The ideal applicant makes well-thought-out decisions on the most complex or ambiguous hardware/software systems engineering issues and ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
This person designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements the most complex hardware/software components, tools, and utilities and will make the most complex modifications to existing hardware/software to fit specialized needs and configurations. He or she will establish and communicate common goal and direction for the team, acting as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff. The Systems Engineer also monitors project schedules and costs.
